UW-Platteville tuned up for the first 54-hole Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship by placing sixth among 13 teams at the UW-Stevens Point Inivitational Saturday and Sunday.

For the first time, the WIAC championships will be contested over a three-day period. Eight teams will play at the Northern Bay Golf Resort and Marina Friday through Sunday in Arkdale, Wis.

UW-Stevens Point and St. Thomas tied for the weekend's tournament title with 637 scores, but the hosts won be virture of a tie-breaker.

UW-Whitewater scored 670, followed by Carleton, 705; UW-Stout, 719; and UWP, 734. The Pioneers finished ahead of conference schools UW-River Falls, UW-Superior and UW-Oshkosh.

Michelle Ebert led the Pioneers with a 170, good for 13th place, followed by Caitlin Cook 20th with 177, Kerrie Liske 35th with a 185, and Tricia Pawelski, 56th with 202.
