The UW-Platteville women's golf team finished fifth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships Saturday and Sunday at the Windwood of Watertown.
The Pioneers shot 708, an 92-stroke improvement from the championships on the very same course last year, when UWP was seventh.
UW-Stevens Point won the meet with 656, followed by UW-Oshkosh at 687, UW-Whitewater 690, UW-Eau Claire 696, UWP 708, UW-Superior 717 and UW-Stout 725.
Michelle Ebert was the top Pioneer finisher, tying for seventh at 168. She shot a blazing 81 on the first day, helping the Pioneers into third place. Although UWP actually dropped its strokes by eight from Saturday to Sunday, the rest of the conference did likewise. Both Caitlin Cook and Julie Chapman shot 86 Sunday, with Cook finishing at 177 (19th place) and Chapman at 179 (22nd). Penny Case was 28th at 184, both Tricia Pawleski and Brianna Cable finished at 202, and Abbie Lepke shot 228.
