The UW-Platteville women's golf team improved its team score by 82 strokes from last year at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational Saturday and Sunday.

The Pioneers finished 14th in the 18-team tournament with a 757. Michelle Ebert led the Pioneers with a 171, finishing 22nd. Caitlin Cook was 32nd with 174, Julie Chapman 72nd with 190, Penny Case 92nd with 201 and Tricia Pawelski 98th with 211.

UWP golfs in the UW-Oshkosh Invitational Saturday and Sunday and then at Clarke on Tuesday, Sept. 11.

Michelle Ebert carded a 39 on the front nine, the fifth-best effort on the day, to lead the UW-Platteville golfers in the first day of the two-day UW-Eau Claire Invitational.

Ebert finished with an 83 over 18 holes, good for 18th place heading into Sunday's play. The Pioneers are 15th out of 18 schools.
