UW-Platteville kicker Tony Smidl earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors from both the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and D3football.com.
Smidl, a senior from Oshkosh West, made all three field goal attempts, and tied his career-long of 43 yards in the process, during UW-Platteville's 15-10 win over Buena Vista University on Sept. 5. He also played a major role in the Pioneers' victory with a booming kickoff that landed in the end zone with 3:09 to play, forcing the Beavers to (unsuccessfully) drive 80 yards for a potential winning score. The 1-0 Pioneers play at 1-0 University of Dubuque Saturday at 7 p.m.
