Aunton Terry caught three fourth-quarter touchdown passes from John Akim, rallying UW-Platteville to a 21-14 victory over Buena Vista Saturday in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Akim and Terry hooked up for a 70-yard scoring pass with 1:48 remaining for the winning score. On a third-and-eight play, Terry caught the ball just past the first down marker, broke a tackle and raced to the end zone.

The Beavers drove down to the 10 in the final seconds, but Ben Lusted and Quincy Hudson brought down receiver Trent Svendsen one yard shy of the end zone on a fourth-and-goal play from the 10, giving the Pioneers their 10th straight season-opening victory.

Akim threw for 196 of his 308 yards in the fourth quarter alone, including passes to Terry for a 19-yard score with 12:52 remaining and a 25-yarder with 3:35 remaining.

With 213 yards on 11 catches, Terry became the first Pioneer since Matt Kent (288 yards) against UW-Whitewater in 2002 to surpass 200 yards on a game. Akim's 300-yard game was the Pioneers' first since the 2006 campaign.

The Beavers, 5-5 a year ago, led 7-0 at the half on Eric Bertelsen's 51-yard touchdown reception from Matt Pearey. BVU extended the lead to 14-0 early in the third quarter on a Pearey-to-Svendsen connection from 19 yards.

Coach Mike Emendorfer's squad piled up 458 yards of offense, including 344 through the air. Peary threw for 298 yards of the Beavers' 400 yards.
