Even though the top seven UW-Platteville runners did not compete Friday, the Pioneers still had plenty in the Tank at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational.
Freshman Alli Tank was fifth to lead the Pioneer women to 12th place in the 17-team team field, while the men showed off their depth by taking 10th of 20 schools.
Tank completed the 6,000-meter race in 23:57 at the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax. The Dodgeville native was the top Pioneer finisher in either race.
Qynne Kelly was 74th in 27:02, while Kristy Curry was 84th at 27:43, Kate Kelly 86th in 27:51 and Kesley Stocks 89th in 28:06.
Matt Hoefs was the first UWP finisher in the men's race, grabbing 22nd place in the 8K race in 27:07. Tim Dahms was 40th in in 27:25, followed by Austen Scudder, 49th in 27:46, Josh Melby, 64th in 28:20, and Chris Sweeny, 65th in 28:23.
UW-La Crosse captured the women's title, while Minnesota-Duluth won the men's.
Half of the Pioneer contingent will rest next Saturday, while the other half will be in action at the Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
