UW-Platteville's Tyler Sigl earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week award for the second time this season.
Sigl became the first runner ever to win three Roy Griak Invitational titles. He won the University of Minnesota meet by covering the 8-kilometer Les Bolstad Golf Course in 25:21 in the Men’s Maroon III Race. Sigl beat 366 participants and helped the Pioneers to a second-place finish among 34 teams.
In the just-released regional rankings, both the Pioneer men's and women's teams are second in the Midwest Region, annually the nation's strongest. The Pioneer women moved up two spots after their performance at the Griak Invitational, where they finished ahead of conference favorites UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire to place second overall.
