UW-Platteville took five of the top nine men's spots, while Julie Plicka turned in a sixth-place finish for the women at the UW-Oshkosh Open Friday at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis.
Matt Rehberg and Nathan Richardson finished second and third, respectively, to lead the Pioneers in the 8,000-meter race. Rehberg's time was 26:30, while Richardson finished in 26:35.
David Chancellor was sixth at 26:43, Jason Garvens eighth in 26:50 and Josh Melby ninth in 26:55 to contribute to a strong Pioneer finish.
Plicka's time was 20:52 in the 5,000-meter women's race. Heather Albright was 15h in 21:28, while Amanda Topper was 17th and Hannah Landwehr 18th.
Eleven of the 14 Pioneer men competing set personal bests, while five of the six women did likewise.
No team scores were kept in the meets, which involved runners from UW-Oshkosh, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Parkside and Cardinal Stritch.
