UW-Platteville's Tyler Sigl won the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Saturday in Peoria, while Marcia Taddy placed ninth in the women's race to also qualify for the national championships.
Sigl captured the 8,000-meter course in 25:04, winning the race by three seconds over UW-Oshkosh's Nick Boehlke. His victory gives the individual title to UW-Platteville for the third time in four years. Ryan Kleimenhagen won in 2003 and 2004.
A sophomore from Seymour, Sigl will make his second straight trip to nationals. He placed 13th in last year's national championships to earn all-America honors.
Taddy, a junior from Two Rivers, will also return to nationals. She was ninth in the women's 6,000-meter run in 21:42, earning all-region honors for the second straight year. Like Sigl, she was 13th in last year's national meet.
This year's championships will be next Saturday in Delaware, Ohio, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.

The Pioneer men just missed making the trip to nationals as a team, placing seventh overall. The 22nd-ranked Pioneers totaled 221 points, but only the top five teams advance. UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, North Central, Chicago and Wheaton qualified from the loaded regional.
Junior Kyle Stangel placed 30th for the Pioneers in 25:47, while sophomore Cam Klein was 61st (26:09), sophomore Nick Fulton 62nd (26:13), and junior Austen Scudder (26:24) 67th 77th for the Pioneers' scoring.
The UWP women moved up to ninth place in the regional, led by Taddy's ninth-place finish. Top-ranked Washington U. won the meet, while UW-La Crosse was second.
Freshman Jessica Scott was 35th in 22:45, while sophomore Lindsey Vick (23:07) was 56th, junior Jessica Davis (23:27) 75th and junior Steph Martin (23:50) 90th for Coach Tom Antczak's team.
