Sigl earns another WIAC honor

UW-Platteville's Tyler Sigl earned his second Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference runner of the week award for his performance at the Jim Drews Invitational at UW-La Crosse Saturday.

Sigl, a sophomore from Seymour, beat the top runners from UW-Madison, Minnesota and Iowa State among others.Ê He was second out of 330 runners in a time of 24:25 over the 8,000-meter course.Ê Sigl, who finished only behind South Dakota State's Brad Lowery, nipped the Badgers' Christian Wagner, Ben Wagner and Simon Bairu, who crossed in 24:26.

He broke the school 8K record during the race, beating the 24:28 Ryan Kleimenhagen ran in the 2002 NCAA Division III regionals.
