This year, there would be no upset.

Second-seeded UW-Whitewater avenged last year's homecourt playoff loss to seventh-seeded UW-Platteville by beating the Pioneers 93-53 Tuesday night in the WIAC Post-Season Tournament.

The fourth-ranked Warhawks, who fell 75-74 to the Pioneers in the same situation last year, take a 24-2 record into Thursday's game with UW-Stevens Point.

UWW bolted out to a 20-5 lead and stretched the advantage to 53-24 at the half. The Warhawks shot 50 percent from the field, while holding the Pioneers to 31 percent and forcing 37 turnovers.

Lisa Wubben led the Pioneers with 18 points, giving her 391 for the season, the 11th best mark in UWP history. She and Conny Droeszler are the lone seniors for the Pioneers, who finished 11-15. Freshman Ashley Callahan pulled down 12 rebounds, while junior Lisa Grantman had nine points and nine rebounds.

Dana Thompson led the Warhawks with 17 points, while Heidi Sonntag had 15, Tiffany Morton 14 and Kelsey Hendrickson 11.
