UW-La Crosse jumped out to a 16-2 lead and went on to defeat visiting UW-Platteville 78-59 Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall.
The Eagles forced 20 first-half turnovers while building a 44-23 advantage. The Pioneers never came closer than 15 (67-52) in the second period.
Lisa Wubben scored 16 points, and Dru Schneider 10 for the Pioneers, who fell to 9-7 overall and 3-4 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The Eagles (7-8, 2-4) were led by Mackenzie Hunter with 11 and Dana Churchill, Amanda Waldvogel and Melissa Lang with 10 apiece.
The Pioneers play host to fourth-ranked UW-Whitewater Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court.
