UW-Eau Claire, ranked 23rd in D3hoops.com poll, beat UW-Platteville 76-67 Wednesday night at Zorn Arena.
UW-Platteville took a quick lead 8-4 with 17:09 in the first half. UW-Eau Claire gained the lead, 10-9, with 14:18 in the first half. UW-Eau Claire went on a 17-4 run with 3:55, and ended the half with a score of 37-22.
Uw-Platteville cut the lead down to nine, 43-34, with 16:24 in the second half. UW-Eau Claire went on an 18-6 run, to get its largest lead of 21, 61-40, with 10:06 in the second half. UW-Platteville surged back, cutting the lead down to seven with 54 seconds in the second half, but ran out of time with the final score of 76-67. UW-Platteville fell to 11-13, 5-10 WIAC, and UW-Eau Claire improved to 19-5, 13-2 WIAC.
Lisa Grantman lead the Pioneers with 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Lisa Wubben had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.
UW-Eau Claire's Michelle Burns led the Blugolds with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Zenner followed with 14 points and five rebounds.
UW-Platteville ends the regular season Saturday at 3 p.m. at Bo Ryan Court, against UW-Stevens Point. The Pioneers open WIAC post-season tournament play Tuesday at a site to be determined.
