Liz Tesch scored 18 points, leading UW-Platteville to a 64-59 victory at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Ill. Saturday.
The Pioneers broke away from a 32-31 halftime deficit to lead by as many as 18 points in the second period. UWP held a 64-46 advantage in the final moments until the Trojans scored the final 13 points to make the score closer.
Lisa Wubben, who made all five of her shots, added 11 points, and Lisa Grantman and Liz Wisdom each had eight for the Pioneers, who improved to 7-4 overall.
Dom Shorb led Trinity (5-9) with 24 points, while Alisa Haman had 13 and Alexandra Majesty 11.
The Pioneers shot 45 percent for the game, including 50 percent in the second half, while holding Trinity to 39 percent overall. UWP also held a 39-28 advantage on the boards.
