Kaiser, Tesch earn WIAC honors

UW-Platteville's Holly Kaiser earned first team all-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors, while Pioneer teammate Liz Tesch was an honorable mention selection.

Kaiser, a senior forward from Hazel Green (Southwestern High School), also earned the league's Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award.

Kaiser finished her career with 947 points, good for 10th place all-time on the Pioneer career scoring list. She also ranks as the most accurate shooter in Pioneer history, making 48.3 percent of her shots. Her career 68.4 percent from the line ranks third in the school's annals. Kaiser led the Pioneers in scoring 11 times, including 25 in a victory over conference co-champion UW-Stout and 19 in the win over the other co-champion, UW-Oshkosh. She led the Pioneers in scoring (13.6 ppg), assists (54) and steals (45). Kaiser was an honorable mention pick last year.

Tesch, a junior center from Dochester (Colby High School), led the team in shooting percentage, at 47.2 percent, and free-throw percentage (74.2) and was second in scoring at 11.6 per game. Tesch scored in double figures in 17 of the team's 25 games, with a high of 24 vs. UW-La Crosse. She put her name in the school record books by making all eight free throw attempts in the team's playoff loss at UW-Oshkosh, the third-best perfect mark in Pioneer history.

Kaiser, two-time academic all-region selection, is the first Pioneer to win the league's scholar-athlete award since Deb Blake did in 1990-91. Kaiser is a biology/pre-physical therapy major with a French minor who carries a 3.94 grade-point average.
