UW-Platteville's Holly Kaiser earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball player of the week award for her performance in two Pioneer victories.
Kaiser, a senior forward from Hazel Green (Southwestern High School), led UWP to a 50-49 victory over UW-Oshkosh and a 66-53 win at UW-Superior. She scored seven points during the key 14-0 run that led to the Pioneers' first regular-season victory over UW-Oshkosh since 1990. Kaiser had 19 points and nine rebounds vs the Titans and followed up by matching her career high of 25 points in the road win vs. the Yellowjackets. For the week, she made 16 of 26 from the field and 12 of 16 for the line in helping the Pioneers to a 4-1 start in league play.
The Pioneers, in a first-place tie in the WIAC, play at UW-Whitewater Wednesday at 7 p.m. then begin an important three-game homestand Saturday vs. UW-Eau Claire at 5 p.m. The Saturday contest is the front end of a doubleheader with the men's team, and one ticket is good for both Williams Fieldhouse contests.
