The University of Wisconsin-Platteville finished its spectacular season ranked sixth in the country, according to the D3hoops.com poll.
The Pioneers were 23-6 during the season and advanced to the NCAA III playoffs for the first time since 1999. UWP beat Hope (Mich.) 83-59 in the first round before falling 74-69 in overtime at Wheaton, who finished second in the poll.
UW-Platteville loses four talented seniors in Charlie Lohoff, Bo Richter, Jeff Skemp and Kyle Tetschlag but returns double-figure scorers in guards Curt Hanson (13.9 ppg) and Mike Shaw (13.4 ppg) as well as swingman Nick Allen, who started 28 games, and forward Eric Wall, who played in all 29 contests.
