Pioneer basketball December 9, 2008

The undefeated UW-Platteville men's basketball team moved up to third in the national D3hoops.com poll.

The 7-0 Pioneers are off to their best start since 1999-2000, when they won their first nine.

UWP faces the last team that beat the Pioneers when they face UW-Eau Claire Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court. The Blugolds stunned the Pioneers 84-80 last year in a WIAC first-round playoff game. Because of the large crowd anticipated for the rematch, University officials are urging students to come early to ensure a seat. UW-Platteville students are admitted free with their IDs, and the student section fills on a first-come, first-served basis. The Blugolds are 4-2 this season and also 1-0 in WIAC play.

The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and has been published weekly since 1998.
