Skemp averaged 21.3 ppg in three road wins

UW-Platteville center Jeff Skemp earned one of five spots on the national D3hoops.com Team of the Week for his play in three Pioneer wins.

The 6-10 senior from Hazel Green (Southwestern) led the Pioneers to three victories, 66-64 at Anderson, 76-67 at No. 21 Wooster and 92-73 vs. Indiana-Southeast, all on the road. He averaged 21.3 points and shot 23-for-35 from the floor, 18-for-21 from the foul line while blocking eight shots and grabbing 21 rebounds.

It's the second time in as many weeks the all-American has earned weekly honors, as he was the first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the week.

Skemp and the fifth-ranked Pioneers open WIAC play Saturday at UW-Superior at 1 p.m. The Yellowjackets are coming off Tuesday night's 86-49 win over Northland College.

Coach Paul Combs' Pioneers then face UW-Eau Claire Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Bo Ryan Court.
