Ruben commits to Pioneers

Colin Ruben, a 6-5, 235-pound forward from Palos Hills, Ill., will attend UW-Platteville and play basketball for the Pioneers, UWP Coach Paul Combs announced.

Ruben was a two-time all-conference selection at A.A. Stagg High School, averaging 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as a junior and 10.2 ppg and 8.6 rpg as a senior. He previously attended Downer's Grove South, where he was a starter as a sophomore for a squad than went 24-5 and placed third in the state. He helped Stagg to a 21-7 record and a sectional championship as a junior. Ruben also earned two all-conference football honors, earning all-area as a senior.

The son of Jeff and Dana Ruben, he plans to major in criminal justice.

He will join a Pioneer team that is coming off an injury-plagued 13-12 season. The Pioneers were 6-1 and ranked 13th in the nation before a rash of injuries altered a promising year. UW-Platteville should have a fully-recovered squad to begin play on the Bo Ryan Court in 2007-08.
