UW-Platteville's Jeff Skemp earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball player of the week honors.

Skemp, a junior center from Hazel Green (Southwestern High School), totaled 26 points and 26 rebounds while leading UW-Platteville to a 2-0 record and a share of first place in the WIAC standings. Skemp had eight points, 13 rebounds, four blocked shots, two assists and a steal in a 71-55 win over No. 20-ranked UW-Oshkosh on Jan. 31. He came back with 18 points and 13 rebounds--his 10th career double-double-- in a 71-60 victory at UW-River Falls on February 2. The 13 rebounds in each game were his career bests.

This is the second time this season Skemp has won the conference award.

The 17th-ranked Pioneers, 15-4 overall and 9-2 in the WIAC, play at UW-La Crosse Wednesday.
