The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team saw its losing streak stretch to three games when they dropped a 9-4 decision to host No. 9 Christopher Newport on Tuesday.
The Pioneers (0-3) held a 4-2 lead before the host Captains came back with seven unanswered runs in the bottom of the eighth for the come-from-behind victory.
Despite the loss, UW-Platteville was led by Aaron Hopson and Trevor Kattre, who each had three hits to pace an 11-hit effort. Hopson also had two RBIs in the defeat. Pioneers’ starter Trevor Hall fanned six in 5 2/3 innings of work but had to settle for a no decision.
The Captains (20-1) had four players with two hits each and reliever Ryan Fleischmann struck out two in the final 1 1/3 inning for the win.
UW-Platteville is back in action on Wednesday at 1 p.m. when they face Averett in a doubleheader.
