Jason Jacobson and Shawn Tobie each homered, and Lee Hawkins hit a bases-loaded triple, leading UW-Platteville to a 10-1 win over Coe College Tuesday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The offensive fireworks were more than enough for starter Kyle Mack and four relief pitchers, who yielded nine hits and just one run to win the non-conference game.

Jacobson jump-started the Pioneers with a two-run home run in the first, the third straight outing he has homered. He then doubled in the third and scored on Steve Bomkamp's single. After a Hawkins hit, Bomkamp scored when the Kohawks threw away a pick-off attempt at third, giving UWP a 4-1 advantage.

Tobie hit a two-run HR in the fifth, scoring Brenden Watson, who had singled. After Levi Ney singled, Jacobson walked, and Bomkamp was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Hawkins brought all three home with a booming blast to right-center field, giving UWP the 9-1 lead.

Jacobson added his third RBI with a bases-loaded groundout in the seventh.

Mack went the first five innings for his fourth win of the year and 12th career victory. He did not walk a batter in his five frames and gave up six hits, including a first-inning run-scoring double to Ryan Schliser.

Brandon Byrne, Brent Cashore, Corey Connolly, and Nick Budden all threw scoreless innings.

The Pioneers improved to 18-16, reaching 18 wins for the first time in three seasons, while the Kohawks fell to 20-17.

UWP plays huge contests from here on out, beginning with Wednesday's games at UW-Whitewater. The Pioneers and Warhawks will finish their April 22 game, suspended by darkness with UWW ahead 7-5 in the ninth. The Pioneers' Kevin Osmanski is on first with nobody out. The teams will then play their regularly scheduled doubleheader.

Over Saturday and Sunday, UWP plays host to UW-Stevens Point four times, with both doubleheaders beginning at noon.
