A storm forced the the delay of Monday's UW-Platteville at Birmingham-Southern baseball game by 90 minutes. A hot Panther team delayed the Pioneers' start even more.
Birmingham-Southern scored 12 runs before the Pioneers got their first hit, and the Panthers went on to a 12-1 victory and a split of the two-game series. UW-Platteville won 6-3 on Sunday.
The Panthers improved to 15-4 with the victory, while the Pioneers had their four-game win streak stopped and are now 4-2.
The first two Panthers reached via errors, and BSC had 12 runs and 12 hits through three innings. Derrick Rice gave the Pioneers their first hit, a double in the fifth. Levi Ney singled home Rice, ending the shutout.
The Pioneers are scheduled for single games at Huntingdon (Ala.) Tuesday and Wednesday night before finishing at Piedmont (Ga.) Friday afternoon.
