Wil Osmanski threw a two-hitter over six innings, leading UW-Platteville to a 9-0 victory over host Westminster and a split of their doubleheader. Westminster captured the first game 9-6 in Fulton, Mo.
Osmanksi did not allow a hit until two outs in the fourth inning and gave up just one more in the sixth. The sophomore from Des Plaines, Ill. struck out five and walked just two. Nick Budden pitched a perfect seventh to finish the shutout.
Mike Flood and Steve Bomkamp each hit two-run home runs for the Pioneers, who had 11 hits. Flood's came in the first inning, helping UWP to a 3-0 lead, and Bomkamp blasted his in the fifth. Ross Bennett and Jerod Haxton each had three hits in the game.
Westminster rallied from a 5-2 deficit with a seven-run sixth inning to win the opener. Jordan Felter, Joe Leak and Grant Shell each knocked in two runs in the inning.
Nick Aplin had his second HR of the spring, part of his three-hit game. Haxton also had three hits, giving him six for the day and raising his spring average to .462. Bennett, who is hitting .387, doubled in each game.
The Pioneers, now 5-3, head out of the St. Louis area and down to Alabama. UWP faces Huntingdon College Wednesday night.
