UW-Platteville was swept by the UW-Whitewater 15-2, 14-2, at Kendall Murray Field on Wednesday.
In the first game, the sixth-ranked Warhawks took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, and never looked back scoring the next four innings.
UW-Whitewater’s Jordan Stine went 4-5 with five RBIs, followed by Ben Kuhlmann 2-4 with two RBIs, and by Ben Prather 2-4 with four RBIs.
In the second game the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the second by Mike Flood’s solo home run. UW-Platteville lost its quick lead in the third inning when Thomas Corcoran hit a two-run home run. The Warhawks added five runs in the fourth inning and seven in the seventh inning.
Flood led the Pioneers going two for two with a home run, followed with Ross Bennett going 2-3.
Jeff Donavan led the Warhawks (25-4, 14-2) going four for five with three RBIs and three runs. Three Warhawks went two for five from the plate.
The Pioneers (12-18, 5-11) are scheduled to play Saturday and Sunday at UW-Superior, depending on the weather. If the forecast holds, the series may shift to Platteville.
