UW-Platteville and St. Norbert split a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday in Green Bay, with the Pioneers taking the first game 6-4, and the Green Knights the second 14-4.

Mike Kuhn hit a solo home run to give the Pioneers a 3-2 lead in the fourth, and the Pioneers scored three more in the fifth to secure the win. Gabe Neitzel had an RBI single in the fifth, and Lee Hawkins followed with a two-run hit.

Four Pioneer pitchers saw action, with Justin Crotty throwing the first four innings to earn his first win. Kyle Mack, Nick Budden and Aaron Daniels each pitched an inning, with Daniels getting his third save. The pitching quartet held SNC to six hits, while the Pioneers had 11. Kuhn, Neitzel and Hawkins each had three hits.

In the nightcap, the Green Knights put up four in the third inning and five in the fourth for the win. Adam Frost, Cory Fuller and Jared Yost each had three hits, with Fuller and Yost driving home four runs apiece for the home team. Justin Wotachek improved to 3-0.

The Pioneers are now 16-20 overall, and the Green Knights 21-8. UWP plays host to a four-game series with UW-Oshkosh, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, depending on the weather. The series could be Saturday/Sunday or even Sunday/Monday. Check the web site often for updates.
