Ross Bennett had four hits, including a two-run home run in the ninth, and UW-Platteville hung on for a 7-6 win at Wabash College Sunday in Crawfordsville, Ind.
Bennett's ninth-inning blast gave the Pioneers a 7-2 lead, but the Little Giants rallied for four runs in the bottom. Reliever Jay Lindner induced a ground-out with a runner on base to end the game.
The Pioneers finished their trip with a 4-6 record, while Wabash dipped to 4-9-1.
Joe Cox pitched the first seven innings, holding Wabash to five hits and two runs. The sophomore earned his first collegiate victory.
UWP scored five runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Scott Dybevik's two-run single.
The Pioneers play at Knox Saturday at noon then open the new Kendall Murray Field on Tuesday, March 27 against Dubuque at 2 p.m. The on-campus facility will be officially dedicated before the Pioneers' doubleheader with UW-Stevens Point on Saturday, March 31 at noon.
