Junior Ross Bennett became UW-Platteville's all-time home run leader, but host LaGrange (Ga.) rallied for an 11-8 baseball victory Tuesday.
Bennett hit his second home run of the season and 16th of his career, surpassing the 15 hit by Merrill Brunson in 1997-99 and 2002.
The preseason all-American hit a two-run shot in the third, staking the Pioneers to a 4-2 lead. UWP led 8-6 in the seventh before LaGrange pushed across three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead and three in the eighth to secure the win.
The Pioneers fell to 1-4, while La Grange improved to 9-7.
Bennett, Jerod Haxton, Jacob Bandy and Matt Paulus each had two hits for the Pioneers, who play at Huntingdon (Ala.) both Wednesday and Thursday.
Joe Lange pitched the first six innings for the Pioneers, yielding five runs, four earned.
