Kuhn's blast leads Pioneers

Mike Kuhn hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, and UW-Platteville hung on for an 8-7 baseball win over host Huntingdon College Wednesday night in Montgomery, Ala.

Kuhn, a junior transfer from MATC, gave the Pioneers a 7-4 lead with his second HR of the year. Jason Jacobson singled and eventually scored on Matt Paulus's sacrifice fly that proved to be an essential run.

The Hawks pushed across three runs in the bottom of the ninth, but Kyle Mack retired the final batter on a fly ball to centerfielder Scott Dybevik.

The Pioneers improved to 2-4,while Huntingdon fell to 11-7. The same two teams meet again Thursday.

Kyle Brudos pitched the first six innings for the win, while Corey Connelly and Jay Lindner pitched scoreless innings.

Kuhn, Jacobson and Ross Bennett delivered RBI singles in a four-run third inning.
