Bennett is preseason all-American

UW-Platteville junior Ross Bennett is a preseason all-American, as chosen by the new D3baseball.com site.

Bennett, from Mequon (Homestead), earned all-Midwest Region second team honors in 2006 after belting a school-record 10 home runs and hitting .385. He broke or tied several Pioneer records besides the home run mark, including slugging percentage, .720. He ranked 24th in the country in home runs and 32nd in slugging percentage.

Weather permitting, Bennett will lead the Pioneers into their opener this weekend at Indiana Southeast College.
