Truman State put together seven straight hits to score six runs in the third inning on its way to beating UW-Platteville 12-2 Monday in the first round of the "Mutt" Miller Classic in Joplin, Mo.
The game was tied 2-2 when the NCAA Division II Bulldogs strung together their rally.
The Pioneers fell to 2-3 on the year, while the Bulldogs improved to 5-6.
Mike Flood made two hits for the Pioneers, while Ross Bennett knocked in both runs.
UWP was scheduled to play at Pittsburg State in Kansas later Monday, but results from the Gorilla's fiel were not immediately known. The game will be updated on the Pioneer web site after the statistics arrive.
The Pioneers face Truman State two more times Tuesday.
