Pioneers resume play in Joplin

Coach Jamie Sailors' baseball squad returns to action with five tough games against NCAA Division II teams at the Mutt Miller Classic in Joplin, Mo.

The Pioneers face Truman State three times and single games against Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern State from Monday through Thursday.

UWP is 2-2 on the year, led by a pitching staff with a sparkling 3.86 earned-run average. Freshman Bill Bulaga has earned both wins, while five relievers have yet to yield an earned run.

The Pioneers are hitting .291 as a team, led by Jerod Haxton at .500, Nick Pepper, .471, Nick Aplin, .375, and Brandon Ihm, .357.

Truman State is currently 3-5, Pittsburg State 10-3, and Missouri Southern 3-10.
