
UW-Platteville outfielder Ross Bennett earned 2006 NCAA Divsiion III All-Midwest Region baseball honors.
Bennett, a sophomore from Mequon (Homestead), earned second team honors in a region that contains all NCAA Division III schools in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota.
With his second team selection, Bennett becomes the highest decorated Pioneer since Matt Northey earned similar second team honors in 1994. More recently, Merrill Brunson (1998), Emmanuel Rivera (2002) and Ryan Levendoski (2004) were third team all-region selections.
Bennett ranked 24th in the nation with 10 home runs and 32nd nationally with a .720 slugging percentage. Overall, he hit .385 with 55 hits, 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 42 runs batted in. He led the Pioneers in all those categories.
UW-Platteville was 19-19 overall, its second straight season of .500 ball or better.
