The University of Wisconsin-Platteville has entered an agreement with Stretch Internet to provide free internet broadcasting of athletic events beginning with the 2011-12 school year.
UW-Platteville plans to broadcast all home men's and women's basketball, football, soccer, volleyball and wrestling contests during the 2011-12 season.
“We are very excited with this new addition to our department and the opportunity to showcase Pioneer student-athletes via live webcasting of our events,” said UW-Platteville athletic director Mark Molesworth. “We hope to be able to connect and engage many of our alumni who cannot get back to campus to attend Pioneer athletic events. It also will allow family, friends and relatives of our student-athletes who might have schedule conflicts that prohibit them from attending a game in Platteville to see the contest live. It will also give us the opportunity to showcase our great facilities and great fans. We're especially excited to be to offer this service free of charge.”
"We're very excited to begin what we hope will be a long-term partnership with UW-Platteville," said Stretch Internet President Ryan Ermeling. "Through our discussions with the university's representatives, it's become clear to us that UW-Platteville values quality, and that's exactly what we'll provide. Our platform will allow the athletic department to reach its fans in exciting new ways and we're thrilled to join the Pioneers in this venture."
“We are very excited that beginning this fall we will be video streaming all of our home contests,” said UW-Platteville Assistant Athletic Director and Head Volleyball Coach Deb Schulman. “It will be a wonderful opportunity for family, friends and alumni around the world to be able to watch us play. It will also be a great recruiting tool since many of the players we are recruiting don't always get a chance to see us play. What a great way to promote our athletic program and UW-Platteville!”
Through the Stretch Internet portal on the main athletic webpage at www.uwplatt.edu/athletics it will be available through virtually every platform imaginable - personal computers, tablets, iPhone, and other mobile devices that support Flash 10.1 or greater.
Also with the agreement, Pioneer fans can sign up for eScores which will send information to your cell phone including scores, news, schedule updates and even promotional items about UW-Platteville athletics.
Information on how to sign up for E-Scores and the broadcast schedule will be distributed through the UW-Platteville main athletic website (www.uwplatt.edu/athletics) and through the UW-Platteville Athletics Facebook fan page (https://www.facebook.com/uwplatteville.athletics).
