
UW-Platteville's Corey Digman placed fourth in the 35-pound weight throw, earning NCAA III all-America honors at the national championships Friday in Terre Haute, Ind.
The Platteville native saved his best for last, uncorking a throw of 57-4.25 on his final attempt of the afternoon. The senior threw 57-0.75 in the preliminaries to qualify for finals.
Digman continues a strong tradition of UWP all-Americans in that event. Since 1996, the Pioneers have earned indoor national honors in the weight throw eight times.
The women's distance medlay relay team just missed earning all-America honors Friday. The Pioneer squad of Ann Tank, Alison Glendenning, Gina Smith and Jess Scott placed ninth with a time of 12:07.44. The top eight teams earn all-America status.
Scott won her heat and advanced to the the finals in the 800-meter run. The senior from Kiel is the defending national champion. Scott, who has the fastest time in the country this season, checked in at 2:15.15 to win her heat.
Scott will run the 800 finals Saturday and will team with Glendenning, Tank and Liz Baker in the 4x400-relay run at Rose-Hulman.
