The UW-Platteville 4x100 relay team of Alex Switzky, Mitch Spees, Matt Bischoff and Lynn Oyawiri broke the school record Friday, running 41.47 at the Wisconsin Twilight Invitational Friday.
The Pioneer quartet bettered the mark of 41.82, set the previous weekend at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships. UWP was invited to a special run-off in that event, with the Badgers and UW-La Crosse. UW finished in 40.96, UW-L 41.33, and UWP 41.47.
With that time, the Pioneers provisionally qualified for the NCAA III national championships and are ranked 10th in the county in that event.
Also over the weekend, Ann Tank and Tony Kilburg reached provisional marks at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College, Naperville, Ill.
Tank finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:11.63. She is currently ranked ninth in NCAA III with that time. Teammate Jessica Scott is ranked fifth in the 800, as well, with a season-best mark of 2:10.14.
Kilburg completed 1,500 meters in 3:54.25, the 28th best time in the country this season.
The NCAA III national championships are May 20-23 in Marietta, Ohio.
