The members of UW-Platteville women's distance medley relay team earned the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track Athletes of the Week award.
Alison Glendenning (Sr., German Valley, Ill./Forreston); Jessica Scott (Sr., Kiel), Gina Smith (So., East Troy), and Ann Tank (Fr., Dodgeville) won the relay in a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 11:55.23 at the Eastbay/UW-Stevens Point Invitational on Feb. 21. Their time ranks as the second-fastest in the country.
The distance medley relay consists of 400-, 800-, 1,200- and 1,600-meter runs. Coach Jim Nickasch's group has dominated this event indoors in recent year, winning the last two national championships and finishing runner-up in 2006.
The Pioneers compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships Saturday and Sunday at UW-Stout. NCAA Division III nationals are March 12-14 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind.
The UWP women are ranked 23rd in the country, and the Pioneer men are 18th.
