The UW-Platteville track and field teams are making a push for NCAA Division III national championship berths, with several Pioneers on the honor lists.
Jessica Scott has already assured herself a spot at nationals, as she ran an automatic qualifying time in the 800 at the Iowa State Classic Saturday. Her time of 2:09.42 is best in all of NCAA III this season. Scott also has the seventh-best mile time with 4:59.67, which is a provisional qualifying mark. (Provisional qualifiers can make the national championships if not enough athletes qualify through the automatic marks.)
Also making the list as provisional qualifiers are:
*Corey Digman, fourth in the 35-pound weight throw at 57-10.5;
*The 4x400 team of Liz Baker, Shea Bierman, Deidre Dillman and Alison Glendenning, seventh in 3:57.31;
*Dillman, ninth in the 400 at 58.61; and
*Jon Balciar, 10th in the pole vault at 15-7.
The Pioneers compete at UW-Stevens Point Saturday, the last weekend before the WIAC championships at UW-Stout. The NCAA III nationals are March 12-14 at Rose-Hulman, Ind.
