UW-Platteville put on a strong showing on its own home course, finishing third among six teams at the closely contested UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday and Sunday.
The Pioneers held a two-shot lead over UW-Whitewater after the first day, but the Warhawks surged to the team title on Sunday. UWW finished with a 706, followed by UW-Stevens Point 719, UWP 722, Carroll 754, UW-Oshkosh 786, and Clarke 813.
Three Pioneers placed in the top eight for Coach Peter Reif. Kellsey Welter finished sixth with a 176, Kelsey Lieving seventh at 177, and Tricia Pawelski eighth at 178. Ellyn Subak shot 191 to tie for 16th, and Kerrie Liske was 20th with a 196. Helen Wilson, playing as an individual, finished 27th.

The UW-Platteville golf team grabbed a two-shot lead after the first day of its own invitational Saturday at the Platteville Golf and Country Club.
The Pioneers forged a first-day score of 353, two strokes better than UW-Whitewater. UW-Stevens Point is third with 364, Carroll fourth at 378, Clarke fifth at 394, and UW-Oshkosh sixth at 397.
Tricia Pawelski shot an 85 for third place overall, one stroke ahead of teammate Kellsey Welter. Kelsey Lieving tallied 87 for sixth, while Ellyn Subak shot 95, and Kerrie Liske and Helen Wilson each shot 99.
Sunday's shotgun starts at 8:15 a.m.
