UW-Platteville placed five runners in the top 10, including winner Jason Garvens, to highlight a strong Pioneer showing at the 11th annual Dan Huston Invitational at Wartburg College.

Garvens led the Pioneer men to second place out of 13 teams in Waverly, Iowa. He completed the 8,000 meters (4.97 miles) in 25:49, winning by 11 seconds. Augustana won the team title with 37 points, six ahead of the Pioneers.

Aaron Whalen was seventh at 26:16, Shane Lacy nit at 26:19, Tony Kilburg 10th in 26;20, and Josh Melby 16th in 26:28 to pace the ninth-ranked men.

Alli Tank turned in a top-10 finish for the women, taking 10th in 23:36 over 6,000 meters (3.73 miles). The Pioneers were eighth out of 11 teams in the meet won by the host school.

Lacey Curtis was 31st in 24:17, Gina Smith 35th in 24:26, Megan Knutson 71st in 26:51, and Carin Lowe 73rd in 27:01.
