Running with a partial squad, the UW-Platteville men still placed fourth out of 18 team at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational Friday afternoon.
Eighth-ranked UWP, resting the runners who ran the previous weekend in the Griak Invitational, scored 170 points to beat 14 of the 18 competing schools. The Pioneer women were 17th out of 19 schools over 6,000 meters on the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax.
Sophomore Anthony Swimm led the men with an 18th-place finish, completing the 8K course in 26:41. Bill Clift was 27th in 27:01; Matt Borneman 30th in 27:03; Curtis Bendorf 39th in 27:15; and Thomas Thornton 56th in 27:33 to complete the Pioneer scoring.
Another sophomore led the women, as Holly Smith was 95th in 26:19, followed by Katie Binning, 106th in 27:52; Katy Helgeson, 109th in 28:03; Steph Lenser, 114th in 28:41; and Laura Benson, 116th in 29:04.
