The UW-Platteville men's and women's basketball teams romped over the Irish National Under 21 teams Wednesday in Dublin.
According to John Krogman, associate vice chancellor for information services and faculty athletic representative: "The men's team, led by Mike Shaw's 22 points and Charlie Lohoff's 10, cruised to a 81-29 victory. After an early 6-6 tie, the Pioneers overwhelmed the young Irish team.
"The Pioneer women won, 71-59, against their Irish National Under 21 counterparts. Lisa Grantman scored 10 of her 18 points in a 14-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter to break open what had been a back-and-forth game. Megan Guernsey added 14 points."
The Pioneers are in the midst of a 10-day international study trip in Ireland. They will face two more club teams along the way.
All-American center Jeff Skemp is keeping an on-line journal of the trip at d3hoops.com and on the Pioneer web site.
