Jeff Skemp had 23 points in 19 minutes

UW-Platteville's Jeff Skemp earned the first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball player of the week award.

Skemp, a 6-10 senior center from Hazel Green (Southwestern High School), led the Pioneers to a 3-0 start to the regular season with victories over Viterbo, Clarke, and Loras. In the three games, he made 21-of-29 shots from the field (72.4 percent) and 16-of-19 from the free throw line (84.2 percent), while averaging 19.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in only 21 minutes per game. Skemp sat the final 16:55 against Loras after matching the Duhawks' 23 points while the Pioneers built a 64-23 advantage. The all-American reached double-figures in scoring in all three games and contributed five assists, five blocked shots and two steals.
