UWP’s Heartland Festival presents the ‘heavenly’ hit musical, ‘Forever Plaid’

PLATTEVILLE — The Heartland Festival, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Center for the Arts, will present “Forever Plaid” beginning on June 26. The “heavenly” hit musical began as an off-Broadway production in 1990 and is now performed around the world.

The critically acclaimed show “Forever Plaid” is an affectionate revue of the close-harmony guy-groups that reached the height of their popularity during the 1950s. The show centers on four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert. They are miraculously revived for the chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was.
During the performance, the “Plaids” present a program of beloved songs and delightful patter that keeps audiences rolling in the aisles when they’re not humming along to some of the great nostalgic pop hits of the ‘50s.

The cast includes Ryan Odorizzi and John Hassig of Platteville, Paul Helm of Wind Lake and Jason Slattery of Berea, Ohio.

Performances are June 26, July 11, 16, 23, 25, 28 and August 7 at 7:30 p.m., June 28 at 2:30 p.m. and July 5, 19 and Aug. 1 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $18 for adults and $9 for UWP students with a valid ID and individuals under the age of 18. Tickets are available through the University Box Office at (608) 342-1298 or tickets.uwplatt.edu “Forever Plaid” will be held in the Theatre Hall located in the Center for the Arts on the UWP campus.
