synopsis
What it's about: It's not the Oscars, the Emmys or the Grammys. The Bit-players and Extras Academy Targets Movie Excellence (BEAT ME) awards is for actors who are only on screen for a few seconds. Actors who aren't good enough to get lines in the first place still want an award ceremony. It's the occasion for a murder mystery.
Quote: "I like these kind of plays because they allow the actors to really get into their parts. There's a sense of an exaggerated character, and it's really fun. It also allows actors to perform very close to the audience and to interact -- not that we want to freak people out -- but it's an experience that everybody is sharing. Plus, the dinner theater pairing is enjoyable and is a good marriage for audiences." -- Ann Farrelly, director
