'A Night at the Opera' concert to feature famous operas
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Symphony Orchestra will perform in “A Night at the Opera” concert on Friday, March 7 in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $5.
The concert will feature Rebekah Demaree, lecturer of applied voice, voice class and diction at UW-Platteville, who will sing arias by Beethoven and Puccini. The orchestra will perform selections from opera favorites, including George Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess” and Giuseppe Verdi’s “II Trovatore,” as well as lesser-known operatic works by Schubert and Tchaikovsky.
“Come experience all of the love, heroism and romance from some of the greatest nineteenth- and twentieth-century operas,” said Dr. Thomas Dickey, director of orchestral activities at UW-Platteville.
