The music faculty will perform in the New Music Recital on Sunday, March 2 in the Richard and Helen Brodbeck Concert Hall at 3 p.m. General admission is $10. Current UW-Platteville student admission is $5.

Beginning with the music of Shostakovich, the audience will be taken on a journey of music written within the past half-century. Composers featured in the recital include James DeMars, Stanley Friedman, Lori Laitman and Matthew Gregg, associate director of bands at UW-Platteville.

Dr. Thomas Dickey, director of orchestral activities, will emcee the event.

“For most classical music fans, the idea of listening to new music is greeted as enthusiastically as a notice from the IRS,” Dickey said. He hopes that interacting with audience members will help guide their listening and make more readily apparent the innovative and unique features each piece offers.
