The University of Wisconsin Platteville’s Heartland Festival announces local auditions and technical theatre interviews for this summer’s shows Next to Normal and Shrek the Musical. Auditions and interviews will be held Saturday, March 1st from 2:00-6:00 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Theatre. Auditions for children entering 4th through 8th grade are from 2:00-3:00 p.m. For the audition, children will learn part of a song from Shrek. Boys will sing from 2:00-2:30 p.m. and girls from 2:30-3:00 p.m. It is not necessary for children to schedule an audition time.

Adult auditions are from 3:30-6:00 p.m. for children entering 9th grade and older. Adults are asked to prepare a 90-second song and a 60-second comic monologue or reading.  Auditions are set up in 5 minute increments, and adults are asked to call the University Box Office at 608.342.1298 or 1.877.727.1CFA to schedule an audition time.

All people auditioning should download, fill out and bring along an audition form from the Heartland Festival website (www.theheartlandfestival.com). Be ready with a list of conflicts from May 28-July 20 and bring along a recent photo or headshot.
Those people 18 and older interested in working backstage or in any area of technical theatre are encouraged to call the Box Office to set up a 10 minute interview time with the Heartland Festival technical staff. If applicable, bring along a resume and samples of your work.

For more information call the University Box Office or visit the Heartland Festival’s website.
