The enrollment totals are in for fall 2017: 7,609 undergraduate and 935 graduate students for a total of 8,544.

Homecoming 2017 is fast approaching and we look forward to seeing many of you joining in the festivities. Homecoming unites the past and present. It means returning to a very special place where memories linger and hopes rekindle. This time can open our minds to endless possibilities. We become a student again, albeit fleeting, and what a re-energizing time that can be. Look back and savor that special time. Margaret Fairless Barker said it best: “To look backward for awhile is to refresh the eye, to restore it and to render it more fit for its prime function of looking forward.”

Homecoming week starts Monday, Oct. 9—UW-Platteville Founder’s Day—with an alumni social at Memorial Park beginning at 4 p.m. and the alumni tug of war at 5:30 p.m. On Friday, Oct. 13, the University Awards and Recognition Ceremony will be held in the Center for the Arts at 4:30 p.m. Homecoming day starts Saturday at 7:15 a.m. at Williams Fieldhouse for this year’s very special Homecoming Hustle. There are already over 200 registrants. The alumni tent opens at 9 a.m. followed by the parade at 10 a.m., and the Alumni Association sponsored luncheon in Ullsvik Hall at 11 a.m. Kickoff for the Pioneer football game against UW Oshkosh is 2 p.m. Homecoming week concludes with the lighting of the “M” at 9 p.m.

Our university has experienced a stellar year. Come back, celebrate, and re-engage. As Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said: “Ah, how good it feels. The hand of an old friend.”

Forever. Pioneers.

Alumni Association Board President
